Letter from Jim Davidson

The Ottawa Massacre

Dear Editor,

This day, the 18th day of the 2nd month in the year of Our Lord 2022 shall forever be known as the Ottawa Massacre. Peaceful men, women, and freedom were attacked and destroyed by vicious bullies and cowards. May God have mercy on their souls. Amen.

Your friend and brother,

Jim

The Crusades: (Video Lectures)

The Crusades are the defining event of the Middle Ages. They brought the very different civilisations of Western Europe, Byzantium and Islam into an extended period of both conflict and peaceful co-existence. Between January and March 2021, Sean Gabb explored this long encounter with his students. Here are two of his lectures. All student contributions have been removed.

Interesting contrast of the disparity of personal freedom between the USA and the UK. Be thankful for the Bill of Rights and the constitutional Separation of Powers. May these things continue to be the stumbling block to tyrants as they were intended.

They don’t even bother to lie

I’ve noticed one big difference between now and the Early Seventies. Back then people were talking about revolution. Now they’re talking about civil war. “They” are not bothering to hide that when the dust settles it will be time to “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”

Those of us who want revolution will have to pick the change we want to work on and quietly proceed to get those changes made. The Internet remains a great tool to advance these changes, but it will also remain cluttered with statist and collectivist messages.

Both left and right seek to bind us to 19th Century nightmares. we can only answer them with even older promises of freedom. It is up to us to show people better dreams.

War on advertising?

Remington settled with the people suing them for Sandy Hook for $73 million. The theory of the suit was that the advertising for the Bushmaster AR-15 combined with the gun’s “bad ass appearance” made it attractive to people who would abuse them. Basically, they were successfully sued for reckless marketing.

So, automakers need to tone down ads showing people drifting into turns at high speeds and spinning out, depicting such driving as cool and proof of your Machismo (including female machismo). Don’t think they’ll get $73 million dollars off the profits to make it worthwhile when they get sued for reckless marketing.

The anti-gunners may have stumbled onto a way to get the advertising industry under control.

Re: War on advertising? (above)

Dear Editor,

Happily with automated metal milling (CNC) and 3D printing, the control freaks are too late. We are now fully out of control. Have been for years. Which has contributed to their panic.

The experiences in Ottawa are instructive. Trudeau is using all the powers he imagines should be his to destroy the freedom convoy. The security hole at GiveSendGo has exposed all contributors due to a malicious hacker. Bitcoin fixes these issues. So many new adopters are getting into cryptocurrencies. Soon they will seek out effective encryption (Signal, Session, Briar, OpenPGP, etc) and discover that Telegram and WhatsApp are not secure.

At this evening 16th of 2nd month Anno Domini 2022 the Ottawa police are passing out flyers to intimidate the convoys. Having been there 3 weeks, I believe many will stand fast. Then we will see whether Ottawa PD and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are willing to slaughter Canadians the way Patton and MacArthur slaughtered the Bonus Army.

I suspect it won’t be pretty.

I hope wise choices are made. I’m impressed with the restraint of these rational humans. I hope they will prevail.
