Vote YES on "The Health Freedom Protection Act."

Message sent to the following recipients: Representative Musgrave

Message text follows:

[recipient address was inserted here]

Dear [recipient name was inserted here],

I am a dietary supplement consumer who supports The Health Freedom Protection Act (HR 4282).

I don't want to be victimized by high-priced vitamins because the FDA and other bureaucrats pretend I need to be protected.

Please vote YES on any legislation that would give the FDA less authority to regulate my dietary supplements.

I do not want the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to continue censoring scientifically supported health information about my food and dietary supplements.

The Health Freedom Protection Act would amend the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to ensure that:

Accurate health claims are not suppressed;

Consumers are given truthful and full information about the disease curative, mitigation, treatment, and prevention effects of foods and dietary supplements;

The FDA honors the intent of the Congress to not censor accurate health claims.

Please co-sponsor The Health Freedom Protection Act (HR 4282).

I would appreciate you replying to my letter to let me know your position on the FDA's censorship of truthful, non-misleading health information. I am outraged by it!

You people can't seem to get anything right these days. Try to do better with this issue.

Not holding my breath,

L. Neil Smith

Mike Baron's "The Architect" To Debut Online

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS—Veteran comics writer Mike Baron will join the next wave of Web-comics creators with The Architect, a 70-page graphic novella created with the hot up-and-comer artist Andie Tong, and which will debut on the completely re-vamped BigHeadPress.Com website in February 2006.

The Architect is a horror story concerning Roark Dexter Smith, a beguiler, womanizer, bon vivant, amateur mycologist and virtuoso violinist in addition to being a world-class architect. He also has a secret ... hobby, which he uses to destroy the family he believes has betrayed him.

"This tale weaves greed, lust, murder and magic into a tapestry that proves the perfect vehicle for Tong's clean yet energetic, Eastern-influenced style," Baron said.

Tong began the project with Baron while a resident or Perth, Australia. He now resides in London where he works for Marvel UK.

The story is inspired by a tragic historical event from the life of renowned architect Frank Loyd Wright. "In August, 1914, Mamah (Wright's mistress,) her two children, and four others were brutally murdered at Taliesen by a deranged servant who barricaded them in the dining room and set the building on fire. Those who managed to escape the flames he killed with an ax as they ran from the burning building." (—Frank Lloyd Wright & the Prairie School in Wisconsin, Kristin Visser, Prairie Oak Press.)

Baron helped spark the first boom of independent, creator-owned comics stories back in the early 1980s when he co-created the Eisner-Award-winning Nexus with artist Steve Rude. He has spawned other creator-owned titles (such as Badger) and for years wrote stories for some of DC and Marvel Comics' company-owned characters including The Flash, The Punisher, Deadman, and various Conan-The-Barbarian derived titles.

The Architect will be serialized on the web and if it attracts a sufficient audience, Big Head Press hopes to publish a quality-trade paperback version for distribution in the comic-book direct-sales and the book-trade markets.

Big Head Press was founded in 2002 by Frank W. Bieser as a publisher of creator-owned graphic novels. In 2006 it is expanding into the Web-comics field, where it will promote quality graphic stories from professional creators in a free-viewing medium supported by advertising and related-product merchandising.

Regarding Tim Condon's article "Just Tell Us What You Want, Clare!"

I've watched the bickering over the FSP for years and excuse me, but I am so damned sick of it.

I never had anything to do with the FSP, and I expect Libertarians to tear chunks off one another since that seems the only activity they're consistently capable of. Normally I leave such people alone. But with all the sturm und drang I've come to wish that all these people, pro and con, would just go away. To New Hampshire, if necessary. Or to Wyoming, or Montana, or Hell. Whatever. If you're gonna do it, just shut up and do it. If you're not, just shut up.

To live free is a very fine thing, and I wish all such efforts well. I don't get the ethics of trying to do it through ballot-box stuffing, but that's just me. Other than its proximity to the belly of the beast, New Hampshire seems a very fine place and I wish the Porcupines happiness there. But they shouldn't begin their adventure by any attempt to force others to join them.

In short, fella: Enjoy New Hampshire, and leave the rest of us the hell alone.

"How do you know a politician is lying? Their lips are moving."

I tend to resent the ones that are murdering now the worst.

And yes, it was before the time of this list but I was just as harsh on Clinton.

He should have done Jail time over China-Gate and the same sort of corruption that's currently eating Tom Delay's lunch.

Clinton was smoother about it.

The republican opposition was desperate to get Clinton out of... a sort of team loyalty. He was team blue and therefore had to be destroyed.

But when you asked thm why—they'd avoid the true evil—he killed human beings and destroyed their property to make political hay at home—It was his Secretary of State, Madeline Albright who helped set us up for 9/11 by saying the deaths of half a million children in Iraq was a price we were "willing to pay" (Note, we didn't have to hear them crying as they died, their parents did—wonder why they hate us?)

It was The Clinton Administration that turned the Lincoln Bedroom into a high priced tourist attraction offering not only extremely expensive over night stays and photo-ops with the president, but favors and access in exchange for cash—Including the mysterious decision to give the Chinese missile technology which not only allows them access to space (good) and more accurate and reliable targeting of nuclear missiles (bad)

But the impeachment didn't focus on any of that—It focused on the blow job.

You know why?

Two very large reasons

A) The American public loves a sex scandal. We'll turn into sex and murder reliably every time

By the same token the American public hates stories with numbers. Numbers are math and we all hated math class. Math is Robert Anton Wilson's Fnord. Mention numbers, people's eye glaze over and they start ignoring you.

Tyranny by obfuscation and obstruction. And it works like a fuckin' charm.

B) If the GOP called Clinton on influence peddling, bribery and the cheerfully ruthless slaughter of people in other nations—then when it got to be their turn they might not get to play that same game.

So Clinton's real sins went largely unmentioned and his petty and scuzzy and utterly irrelevant behavior took center stage.

The American people, while completely, totally and reliably stupid about numbers had enough sense to vaguely percieve that getting up in the air about Clinton's blow job was politically motivated bullshit and tuned out in droves.

The GOP found it had created an albatross around their own necks, hung Fred Thompson out to dry and ran away from it.

——

So now Bush is in office and doing shit that Clinton, in his wildest fantasies of corruption and power tripping could never dream.

And the GOP stays resolutely silent about their own pandering for influence, cronyism, corruption, sleazy deals (And remember when they pass a $250 billion dollar budget amendment that includes ale and whores for all members of congress—we get to pay for all that).

The Democratic party has be reluctantly dragged into noticing and saying as quietly as they can "hey. wait. stop." because they know if they put up a stink, their own skeletons will come dancing out of the closet and they won't get to play the same game in when they come back into power.

——

So noting that "Clinton was corrupt, too..."

Means nothing to me. Of course he was—and so was and is everyone else in DC —

Burn 'em. Hang 'em all.

GOP or DEMS they are not your friends, except in how a lion truly appreciates the personal qualities of a gazelle.

If they could profit in the long term by torturing you to death, you'd wind up cold, alone and in terrible pain at the hands of "patriots"—while the GOPS and the DEMS made stupid mouth noises about defending freedom

The only thing that saves you is what saves a minnow from the tuna nets.

Do not forget that

GIVE BATFE THE BOOT!

We gun owners routinely say to one another that we have the "right" to keep and bear arms. Honestly, though: what kind of "right" do we have if we are afraid to use it? There is one federal agency whose job is to instill fear into gun owners and dealers. That agency is BATFE, and it has always relied on our fear (see our BATFE archive at www.jpfo.org/batfearticles.htm).

But now there's good news. JPFO, in conjunction with courageous gun-maker Len Savage, has literally taken on this dangerous, vindictive federal agency. We have had encouraging successes, and now we must now take it to the next level.

Boot the BATFE

JPFO is instituting a new "Boot the BATFE" campaign. We plan to run large ads in influential national media to "wake up the choir" and get gun owners roaring. We must tell gun owners that, after all these terrible decades of abuse, a handful of crusaders have put the BATFE on the run—and that it's now up to all of us to pursue the BATFE with facts, knowledge, and courage until it is dismantled and no longer a terror to American gun owners.

These ads will cost $1,000 to $2,000 or more—each, but they will deliver facts to educate and enlist more gun owners to help. Through this campaign, we will sound a ringing wake-up call to action.

How to Help Please visit http://www.jpfo.org/bootbatfe.htm to learn more about "BOOT THE BATFE." You can donate directly toward the campaign at http://www.jpfo.org/donateboot.htm. You can also help us by purchasing our new "Boot the BATFE" t- shirts from our online store (http://www.jpfo.org/jpfowear.htm). These t-shirts give BATFE a whole new meaning! As a bonus, with each t-shirt, you'll get a FREE "Boot the BATFE" lapel pin ($9.95 value)! Limited quantity, so act today!

This is your fight. This is the fight for the rights of all firearms owners in America. Please contact us today and contribute what you can. If we run out of funds, we'll have to quit and BATFE will win. Your financial support is crucial to give this rogue agency the boot.

If we don't boot the BATFE, you can bet someday they'll boot you.

Re: "Unions Divided", by Lady Liberty

Let me respond to the article on unions from the perspective of someone who is working for a living in the electrical industry and is thankful every day to have representation from the IBEW. I say thank god for unions, because the average person has no protection without one in our current workplace. While it is true that some unions, in our area most notably the police and firefighters unions, can protect employees who should be disciplined it is also the case that crazed, incompetent management can only be held accountable if you have a strong union with good lawyers standing up to them.

How do I know this? Well I work for a large utility and when a co-worker and I started raising safety issues in a generating powerhouse (where upper management had placed an incompetent suckup as supervisor) we soon found ourselves on the "enemies" list. I became the only person in the history of this utility to be fired for moving two filing cabinets and a copy machine from one room to another inside a locked powerhouse. I got my job back with full pay and make-whole but it required 14 months and two very good IBEW lawyers to do it. I often feel like I am living in an Ayn Rand novel, where incompetent political hacks are destroying a great industrial interprise. There are problems with unions, to be sure, but if you're living in the real world and working in big industry there are more problems without them.
