EDITORIAL MATTERS:

My friend Philip Luty has just been diagnosed with cancer. Not having much faith in the British health care "service" he needs money to pursue alternative treatment in one of the specialist cancer clinics in Germany. You can donate some cash to him via his at PayPal (his email address is [email protected] )

You can buy his downloadable books from his website "The Home Gunsmith" at www.thehomegunsmith.com.

For sending mail donations (remember: "international money orders" are best for this), send to (formatted thusly):

Philip Luty
C/o 24 Almsford Road,

England

You may remember Mr. Luty made the news in 1998 when he was sent to prison for writing a book "Expedient Homemade Firearms—The 9mm Machine Gun". He built his design to make sure it worked (it did, and has been built by many people around the world, see his website for some video demos), and was SWATted down and locked-up for five years. JPFO published some information about him as A Perfect Example of the Victim-Disarming Mindset, and Help A Political Prisoner Who Opposed "Gun Control" in England, as well as The $200 Machine Gun.

The Money of Your Choice
by L. Neil Smith and Rylla Cathryn Smith
It should be abundantly clear by now that government-issued "fiat" money (so called because of the Biblical use of a Latin term that means "let there be")—paper currency, plastic or junk metal coins, and what might be called "magic wand credit" with nothing of actual, intrinsic, tangible value to support it—has been an unmitigated disaster for everyone, everywhere, except for corrupt politicians and certain of their pet mercantilists.

Libertarian Dogma
by Paul Bonneau
Sometimes I think the whole human world is built on faith. It's not surprising really, since faith is a mechanism for making sense of a world that often makes little sense.

How Do You Divorce Your Government?
by Russell D. Longcore
Our marriage started out great. There we were... she and me against the world. We got busy and created a marriage that the whole world envied. Bunches of people tried to emulate our happiness. Our happy marriage lasted for years.

The Private Sector
by Sean Gangol
About a year ago Congress investigated the accusations of steroid abuse among Major League Baseball players. Whether steroid use is rampant in professional baseball is irrelevant to me. Since I have never been much of a baseball fan, I could hardly care less if Roger Clemens or Mark McGwire ever used steroids. What concerns me the most about the congressional hearings on steroids abuse is that no one seemed to question what authority the government had in conducting the hearings.

Dear Babby
by Don Childers
Dear Babby, A dear friend of mine has been married to the same worthless lout forever. She's miserable in the relationship, and of course that means I hear all the messy details.

Making Democracy Work
by Paul Bonneau
OK, I'm already waiting for the Bronx cheers on this one. Who doesn't have their own collection of Menckenalia on this? "The purest form of democracy is the lynch mob." "Democracy is a form of worship. It is the worship of jackals by jackasses." Some libertarians go so far as to praise monarchy.
