The Physicist and the Climatologist; FOLLOW THE MONEY!
by David M. Hoffer
The fatal flaw in the climate models seems to come from one
repeated assumption. The assumption is that positive feedbacks from greenhouse
effects can exceed negative feedbacks. While this situation might actually exist
over a given time period (and reflect temperature increases during that time
period as a result) the average over the long term must net to zero. If it
doesn't, then everything we have learned about physics over the last 1000
years is wrong, and perpetual motion is possible. If a climatologist and a
physicist were to discuss the matter, the conversation might be as follows:

TSA: Too many Sex Addicts
by Francis A Ney, Jr.
It hasn't exactly been a banner month for our favorite
terrorist organization, the Transportation Security Agency. The name is three
lies in one, much like the military MRE, in that it doesn't transport anything,
secures even less, and the Keystone Kops run a better agency. And given recent
news reports and official reaction to them, it's a good thing that most TSA
employees don't carry guns, or there would be even more self-inflicted pedal
injuries than there are now.

"Where Did That Come From?"
by Rob Sandwell
A friend of mine was talking with his girlfriend about
marijuana use recently. He doesn't use the product, but he was explaining
why he is in favor of the elimination of drug prohibition on moral and
practical grounds. She was deeply and emotionally opposed to the very idea.
Drugs are bad. Drugs hurt people. Drugs, and drug users, and drug dealers,
are evil. He pointed out that they both drank alcohol, which is far more
dangerous than marijuana, and attempted to press her on her position. He
wanted to know what the difference was. He wanted to know why she felt
the way she did. She quickly became defensive and simply stated that
she didn't have a reason for feeling the way she did, she just felt
that way. Think about that.

Libertarianism is Kidstuff
by Doug Carkuff
For many of us the principles of libertythose principles
which define libertarianismare elementary. They are the things we learned in
kindergarten. There are really two basic lessons that I learned in kindergarten
(and I think most children know these things intuitively). The first is that you
don't hit other people and the second is that you don't take things that don't
belong to you. Aren't these really the basic lessons of libertarianism? Don't
these represent the non-aggression principle in a nutshell? No hitting and no
stealing? And don't the vast majority of us take for granted these proscriptions
as just and good and obvious? Of course "no hitting" and "no stealing" are
unsophisticated expressions of the basic libertarian viewpoint, but it is easy
enough to extrapolate these ideas to the world in general and to virtually every
aspect of human interaction. It is easy enough for the vast majority of us to agree
with the elementary notions of no hitting and no stealingexcept, apparently,
when it comes to government.

Weirdness

Conspiracy Movie Reviews for the week of Feb 7, 2010
by Roy L. Fox
Zeitgeist Time 2:02Zeitgeist is perhaps
the most earth shaking and paradigm shattering film in the conspiracy
documentary genre. Part I has created tremendous controversy because it exposes
the false basis of religion, and how the elites have always used religion to
control populations. In particular, the sacred myths of Christianity are exposed
as retreads of many earlier religious myths, and are linked to sun worship and
astrological belief systems. Part II exposes the myths behind the 911 story
portrayed by government and the mass media. Part III is a breathtakingly
powerful discourse on the criminal basis of the Federal Reserve System and
our enslavement through the bankers' corruption of the monetary system. The
film concludes with an appeal to people to question their paradigms and belief
systems, which is the first step toward defeating the elite's conspiracy against
mankind.

Run and Hide; The Kaptain's Back
The Kaptain's Log
by Manuel Miles, aka Kaptain Kanada
The recent hiatus has not improved your kindly Kaptain's
disposition. I was never inclined to pussy-footing about, and I'm even less
so now in my advancing old age. So if you think that you can be "pro-life"
and pro-war, or that you can be pro-abortion and libertarian, take a hike
off the plank. I'm not cutting anybody any slack.
