What I Have To Deal With
by L. Neil Smith
Elsewhere in this issue is a letter I received from an individual
named Ken Stern. It was the first of several, and I promised him that I would reply
to his points as soon as I had the time and energy. In the first, he seems to be
responding to my essay "Why Did It Have To Be Guns?"

Top Line Work
by Jim Davidson
Two friends have been discussing my friend Darrin's car,
which is currently not running. Among other things is a controversy about when
it becomes an abandoned item available for homesteading. Here is my latest post
on that topic.

Protection Implies Submission
by Paul Bonneau
One of the very first and most fundamental bennies the
budding state promises us is protection, and virtually everybody is a sucker
for that appeal. Many libertarians even fall for it, claiming that a legitimate
role of government is protecting our rights, or protecting us from mala in
se criminal action. They don't understand, for some reason, that protection
requires one's submission; and the state is sure to keep that under wraps.

Democrats and RepublicansRush is wrong, and so are YOU!!
by Neale Osborn
With all the crap out there about how T.E.A. Party members
are going to split the vote and deny Republicans their "Rightful result" of the
Obamacare fiasco, I have decided to re-publish this anywhere I haven't (to the
best of my knowledge) anywhere else.

Sit Still Right There and Don't You Dare Play
by Bob Wallace
I have only a few memories from kindergarten. One is playing
with blocks, which I remembering enjoying, one is launching one of those blocks
across the room and hitting a kid in the head and making him cry, and another is
lying on a mat and being restless and bored and then getting whacked by our
spinster teacher (who clearly, sadistically enjoyed it) with a pointer for not
going to sleep while lying on our mats.

How it goes
by Jim Davidson
This is how it goes, everybody knows. If governments can do
any good, it is because individuals acting from within the government do some
good. It follows logically that if they can do good in that situation, they can
do good in other situations.

Ship of Fools
by Rob Sandwell
I received an email this week from a group which organizes
protests against certain big government initiatives, and the subject line read,
"Tell Congress: You're Not Fooling Us." I thought this was interesting, because
it seemed to imply that by sending emails, letters, or phone calls to Congress
you could somehow affect their position on any particular issue. The irony of
this concept, from my perspective, is that if you really think that anything you
have to say can influence the actions of the state, then they are fooling
you.

The Wilson/Smith Big Announcement
by Francis A Ney, Jr.
I have great enthusiasm for the concept of making current,
backlisted and unavailable books available in electronic format. Baen Books,
despite political differences I have no control over, actually sets the standard
for such endeavors and has been quite successful at it in what is arguably a niche
market. That being said, with all due respect to Mr. Smith and Mr. Wilson, I
object strenuously to the method you have chosen.

Dollar DVD's Part 3Flawed Favorites
Conspiracy Movie Reviews for the week of April 11, 2010
by Roy L. Fox
These selections from www.onedollardvdproject.com are
interesting, but for various reasons did not deserve higher ratings. They
are worth your consideration even though they won't win any Oscars. The DVD's
are available for as low as one dollar each if bought in bulk.
