Might As Well Vote for Obama
by L. Neil Smith
Grin and Bear It was the name of a Sunday comic strip I loved.
Its writer/artist went by the name George Lichty. When I was a kid, he did one I've always
remembered. In Stalinist Russia, two bureaucrats with star-shaped "Hero" medals on their
chests stand either side of an office safe with a broken door. One of the two is lamenting,
"Is terrible news, Comrade! Someone is stealing results of next week's election!"

"Warren the Crusader" vs. the Evil, Greedy Factory Owner
by Thomas Andrew Olson
This statement [by Elizabeth Warren, Democratic candidate for Senator in
Massachusetts]has been circulating the social nets like wildfire over the last day or so,
often with a snarky "take THAT, libertarians!" thrown in as a bonus. While it is wonderful
raw meat for progressive populists, and gets their hearts pumping, there are just so many
misconceptions, misstatements, and just plain disingenuousness in that tirade that it
deserves a critical breakdown.

Fighting the Culture War
by Jim Davidson
Here we are again on the eleventh of September with another
meaningless anniversary of events very few people understand, about which only a
small number know the exact truth. And the endless nonsense being spewed, not only
by the people in power and their sycophants in the lamestream media, but also by
those who stand in the gap in opposition to injustice, continues to set my teeth
on edge. Today I'm told, "They hate us because our government has been killing them."

Flash Editorials September 24, 2011

International: BIG controversy coming to a head about
Palestinian statehood. Can't think of a reason why they should be prevented from
organizing a new nation, and can't think of a reason why the Israelis and DC
should have veto power. Oh yea... I remember now. Washington and Tel Aviv don't
like Hamas leadership, even though Hamas was lawfully elected to office. Perhaps
if the Palestinians got statehood, they would stop trading mortars and rockets
with Israel. And before Washington labels Hamas "terrorists," let's ask Iraqis,
Afghanis and Pakistanis who THEY consider the top terrorist nation in the world.
And could somebody in the damn earth remember that PM Yitzhak Rabin, PM Ariel
Sharon and Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan were all considered terrorists back in
1948 when they were fighting for a state of Israel?

Imperialism is a Paper Money Tiger
The Kaptain's Log
by Kaptain Kanada, aka Manuel Miles
Old Chairman Mao once opined that "Imperialism... is a paper tiger,"
in order to emphasise his lack of fear of an American invasion of mainland China. He wasn't
often right about much but he was more accurate than he knew when he coined that phrase,
for we have recently been witness to the invasion and occupation of Libya, inter alia.

Rick Perry, Debates and Immigration
by Russell D. Longcore
In Thursday night's political theater presentation, aka "debate,"
Texas Governor Rick Perry got buttonholed by Senator Rick Santorum about the Texas law
that allows children of illegal immigrants to attend Texas colleges for the in-state
tuition fees. He made a somewhat impassioned defense of it, and said that opponents
have "no heart."

Occupy or Withdraw?
by Jim Davidson
You've had a week to hear about the occupation of Liberty Square,
formerly Zuccotti Park, in the financial district of Manhattan island, New York city.
You've presumably had some time to form an opinion of this idea. Should people be
occupying Wall Street? To what end?
