Special to L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise

Oppositional Defiance Disorder. A wonderful new disease. Now, if you oppose eauthority figures for philosophical reasons, and will not compromise your standards, you are mentally ill. If you oppose certain government programs, such as TSA sexual assaults in airports, the USA PATRIOT Act, TARP, HARP, or Obamacare, you are mentally ill. If you support a full return of your 2nd Amendment rights, you are mentally ill. If Janet Napolitano considers you a possible terrorist threat (such as a member of the NRA, a returning Iraq War vet, pro life supporter, Libertarian, TEA Party member, or have a "Don't Tread On Me" bumper sticker), it's because you are mentally ill.

So, what this means is, if you have a backbone, if you despise large government no matter who is in charge at the moment, if you like to KEEP your Constitutionally enumerated rights, or have the nerve to disagree with government summarily destroying sections of the Constitution, you are mentally ill. You are a candidate for the O.D.D. People Club. Since, under that definition, I am mentally ill, and there is NO FUCKING WAY I will ever change as long as this country continues down the road to total socialism, I have decided to fully embrace my so-called mental illness. Recently, a few friends of mine and I created the O.D.D. People Club. We are a group of people who proudly embrace the fact that, like the founding fathers of our country (warts and all), we stand up for our rights without fear. We proudly embrace that assinine label our un-beloved government has thrown in our faces.

We stand up and tell any asshole that attempts to destroy yet another right, by whatever means, that we are going to fight them. We unflinchingly tell any and all people who falsely claim that a majority who falsely believes it has a right to infringe on the rights of a minority just how wrong they are. We stand up for the rights of others, even if we aren't particularly fond of their views, or the particular right they are supporting. We live the motto (sometimes attributed to Voltaire, but not found in any of his written works) "I care not for what you have to say, Sir, But I shall defend to the death your right to say it!" We proudly accept the paraphrase of Patrick Henry's famous quote about Liberty- "I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"—March 23, 1775, modernized as follows- "I don't care what course Y'all might take; but as for me, give me liberty or die, you sonafabitch!"

If this fits your way of thinking, join with us, and proudly proclaim your intent to oppose authority wherever you find it attempting to limit, license, or destroy your rights. I welcome you to our ranks. And, if you find yourself in opposition to our aims, be warned. We're done rolling over and peeing on our bellies in fear of a jack-booted government labeling us as dangerous. Because they are right- Belief in FREEDOM and LIBERTY IS a dangerous thing... to a government!
