Down With Power!
Down With Power!
HOW TO FIX AMERICA

NOT IN SIX CENTURIES

NOT IN SIX DECADES

NOT IN SIX YEARS

BUT IN JUST SIX MONTHS!

Yes, the principles enumerated in L. Neil Smith's Down With Power, properly applied, will make a visible difference in America's condition in just 180 days!

While we wait months and years for the swift recovery that's in America's power, the con-game—played against us by government, corporations, and unions—goes on.

Stop the con-game. Read L. Neil Smith's Down With Power, available from Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, and other sources, in trade paperback and e-book editions.

EDITORIAL MATTERS:

Golly, will you look at this:

House approves resolution to keep Internet control out of UN hands
by Pete Kasperowicz - 12/05/12 11:44 AM ET

The House on Wednesday unanimously passed a Senate resolution introduced by Sens. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) that calls on the U.S. government to oppose United Nations control of the Internet.

The 397-0 vote is meant to send a signal to countries meeting at a U.N. conference on telecommunications this week. Participants are meeting to update an international telecom treaty, but critics warn that many countries' proposals could allow U.N. regulation of the Internet.

The following had to be explained to me. While I watched the show some, I really didn't much care for it, due to it being so stupid, preachy, and simple-minded. But anyway:

I'm gonna do this:

From the FB page "DIE AS MR. RODDENBERY INTENDED"

"I say we all wear red shirts on December 21, 2012. So at least if we die, we die as Mr. Gene Roddenberry intended."

Moo
by L. Neil Smith
I've been thinking about current events all week, especially our low, miserable betrayal by country club Republicans, and I've come to a conclusion that many readers may feel disturbed by or chagrined about, as it pleases them. It first arose during an argument online about the brief document I've written and appended to most of my e-mail for quite a long while, now. Intended to correct the Founding Fathers' gravest omission, it is a penalty clause for the Bill of Rights.

Review of L. Neil Smith's Down with Power
by John Walker
In the first chapter of this superb book, the author quotes Scott Adams, creator of "Dilbert", describing himself as being "a libertarian minus the crazy stuff", and then proceeds to ask precisely what is crazy about adopting a strict interpretation of the Zero Aggression Principle....

A Reply to Mr. Bradshaw's Open Letter

Mr. Bradshaw gave me the opportunity to draft a reply to his treatise on the Friday afternoon prior to its publication, but personal time constraints have prevented me from reading it in full until now (Saturday morning, Dec. 8).

Fact, fiction and historical novels
by Richard Blake
If you describe anything as "the worst thing that can happen," it probably isn't. But one of the worst things that can happen to an historical novelist is to have someone creep up with a smirk on his face, and say that you got a fact wrong. For me, it's worse than being told the novel is useless. I've always sheltered from general criticism behind an impenetrable wall of vanity. I'm a genius. Anyone who says otherwise can only be intellectually or morally defective. Tell me, though, I've got my facts wrong, and I may run screaming from the room.

A refute of Michael Bradshaw's "Open Letter"
by Jeff Colonnesi
In Michael's letter in TLE #699 he describes the 5th generation of warfare. However, his description confuses a type or method of warfare with a stated political goal. More so, his description of the warfare portion of the 5th generation is not accurate. charges.

Why I Love Black Friday
by Devin Leary-Hanebrink
Religious organizations, the media, and academics alike all lament the commercialization of the holidays; particularly the period leading up to Christmas. The retail industry, always in the critics' crosshairs, is constantly ridiculed for destroying the traditional family values and holiday spirit associated with the season. Most of this misguided criticism focuses on Black Friday, the day following Thanksgiving.

WND: Leave Lennon Alone
by L. Neil Smith
Sometimes people say things that are so incredibly stupid that, even if you count them among your enemies, you feel embarrassed for them. I read about half of the thousand or so messages I get every day from World Net Daily. I have never regarded WND as a source of unquestionable truth, and that goes double for the somewhat demented personality behind the whole thing, Joseph Farah. I know people who have worked for him; from their description, "hysteric" hardly covers it.

The unabridged audio version of my 1983 novel The Nagasaki Vector, brilliantly read by the great libertarian radio host Brian Wilson, is finally available for purchase.

Many feel that this is the funniest book I've written so far—at least intentionally—and features our old friend Win Bear, G. Howell Nahuatl, a sapient coyote, time traveler Bernie Gruenblum, and Georgie, the time machine who loves him.
