Independency!—and a Thumb in the King's Eye
by L. Neil Smith
I have just been invited to attend a famous science fiction convention next year as its Guest of Honor, and I have happily accepted. More details about that another time soon. The point here is that I have no idea—and neither does anybody else—whether there's even going to be a next year at least for the land of the free and the home of the brave. That's what living in "interesting times" is about. As I stand here writing, gun owners in the state of Connecticut are braced for a massive, illegal physical assault on their lives, liberties, and property, by a state government and its goons who have given up the last tattered appearances of respect for the Bill of Rights. They want their subjects disarmed and helpless.

Twitter is Banned in Turkey
by Tiffiniy Cheng
Yesterday, the government of Turkey blocked Twitter entirely, cutting off 10 million people from the social network that has been essential in the organizing of protests and the dissemination of information. Last night, we received this email from our contact in Turkey, from Alternatif Bilism, the group of academics and activists in who we are working with to fight the censorship....

Are You Ready for War?
by Paul Bonneau
Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring, during the Nuremberg Trials, had this exchange with a biographer: Göring: "Why, of course, the people don't want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."

Neale's Weekly Gun Rant Volume 3-23-2014
by Neale Osborn
I just wonder why the guns were still on premises. from the article... In a previous post, Hall complained, "Well Connecticut state police are on their way to seize all of my firearms... what the fuck happened to my 2nd amendment.... this is unjustified.... and this is no bullshit either.... they are really on their way with a court order for me to hand over my firearms!" MY response would be "I shipped them to an out of state relative." This poor guy decides to straighten out his life and get sober. NOW the state confiscates his guns.

Oh the Stupidity
by L. Neil Smith
I saw a headline the other day claiming that eight out of ten Americans believe that there is inevitably going to be another Holocaust. The headline was based on a poll reported by Joseph Fara's World Net Daily, and was conducted on behalf of author Joel C. Rosenberg. I always take anything I read on WND with a grain or two of salt, all the more because I have a couple of highly respected friends who once worked there. I am uncertain whether I ever met Joel C. Rosenberg. In the 80s or 90s, I think, I had a conversation with someone named Joel Rosenberg that only managed to convince me he was a waste of space and oxygen. Not unlike Joseph Fara.

It is time for reflection on Revolution, and what better way than to pledge some of your hard-earned money to Giovanni Martelli's Independency Productions plan to put on that splendid musical 1776 in Fort Collins, Colorado. IF they can raise enough money. See "Don't You Know There is a War On?" for more information, or go right to Kickstarter to lay your money down.

The following is not the first of these calls to persecute unbelievers, and I'm sure it is not the last:

Professor Calls For Climate Change 'Deniers' To Be Imprisoned
Wants to criminalize questioning of the science on global warming
by Steve Watson

A professor with Rochester Institute of Technology has called for the incarceration of any American who actively disagrees that climate change is solely caused by human activity.

Lawrence Torcello, a philosophy professor with a Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo, published the comments as part of an essay submitted to the academic website The Conversation.
