Rex May's proposed flag design is just the old Confederate battle flag with the background field changed from solid red to red and white stripes. I'm not sure what message he's trying to convey with this, what "American people and culture" he's trying to symbolize. Is it the ideals (whatever they are) of a "new confederacy" within a broader United States? A resurgent states' rights movement? If this flag conveys something I'm confused as to what it is.
