The Truth About "Immigration"
by Kent McManigal
I just had a revelation. It's so obvious that I'm ashamed at how slow I was to see it. There is not only no such thing as "illegal immigration"... in fact, there's no such thing as "immigration" at all! For "immigration" to be a real thing you'd be claiming that borders and the "tax" farms they surround have legitimacy. You'd be claiming there is something "above" private property to "immigrate" to.

The Politics of Contraband & The Reptile Smuggler's Blues
by Jeff Fullerton
He's back! That John Tokosh, reptile smuggler of local Pennsylvania fame is a tenacious fellow. I first heard of him back in the late 1990s when he was busted by the PA Fish and Boat Commission in a sting operation involving the illegal sale of a bog turtle from a plain clothes officer in Breezewood, a major interchange on the turnpike in the south-central part of the the state and a hop skip and a jump from Harrisburg! Talk about being not so bright—the meeting place itself smelled of a setup—at least in my perception. Much like the price list I had gotten in my younger days from the Atlanta Wildlife Exchange; which a few years later turned out to be a front for the US Fish & Wildlife in the infamous Snake Scam of the 1980s. To this day I lament loosing the price list which had a handwritten note on it saying they were interested in obtaining Wood & Bog Turtles. I actually thought about inquiring whether they would consider trading wood turtles for spotted turtles—as I was a little put off by the going price for spotts in the $35 range. (a real steal in today's market!)

Impunity in the Land of the Armed
by Paul Bonneau
Dan Sanchez does a fine job of refining our understanding of the problem of power, which in turn will help us learn how to fight it: No, power isn't simply about the exertion of unjust force. It is about what happens next, after the exertion. Does the perp generally get away with, or not? Systematically getting away with it—or impunity—is where power truly lies. And that is what makes agents of the state different from any other bully. State agents can aggress with reliable impunity because a critical mass of the state's victims consider the aggression of state agents to be exceptional and legitimate. That is power.

Jon Stewart's 19 Tough Questions for Libertarians
by Sean Gangol
I have wanted to write this article for nearly two years, but I kept getting distracted with other topics, which seemed more pressing then this one. Lately I have enjoyed writing articles in response to the misconceptions that statists have about libertarianism, so I decided to answer Jon Stewart's 19 Toughest Questions for Libertarians. For those of you who don't know who Jon Stewart is, he is a comedian who stars in The Daily Show a comedic news show that takes potshots at politicians (mostly on the right). I can't say that I have ever been overly fond of the show mostly due to the comedy being weak. Jon Stewart is moderately funny on the show, though I prefer his old stand up routines. Putting that aside, I remembered that Jon Stewart had made a list of questions that were supposedly too tough for libertarians to answer.

Imagine That!
by MamaLiberty
I've talked about dry fire, and other ways to practice the physical skills necessary for self defense, especially situational awareness. All of these require you to use your imagination in a number of ways, but there is a further dimension wherein the use of your active imagination can help you prepare even better for that situation you sincerely hope will never happen.

And something additional to read:

"The Superversive World of Harry Potter"
by John C. Wright

Finding that no one in real life believes what bigoted leftists pretend conservatives believe does not mean most people lean left: it means leftists are bigots.

It is no surprise that more leftists buy books, including fairytale books, for their children, and pass along their political viewpoints as well. Leftists already live in Cloudcuckooland, which is next door to fairyland.

I suggest that some enterprising political scientist perform a similar study for any book-reading of any kind, not just books about schoolboy wizards, or, indeed, any idle pastime whatsoever. Leftism is found more among idle folk whose mental immune system is weak: among teens, among university professors, and among everyone else who does not work for a living. (And the People’s Republic of Vermont is as thick with the leftism-carrying vectors as a fever swamp with mosquito and tse-tse fly.)

As part of their ongoing attempt to politicize private life, and spread their cult, leftists since the 1930s at least have attempted to import their messages into movies, popular songs, television, everywhere. It is a particular badge of courage to them if they can get a conservative father to buy a book containing propaganda for his child unknowingly. Read more

Note that he thinks the Harry Potter subversion of leftish stuff is a good thing. A super-good thing. Which it is!
