We're going to start this mega-humongous doubled-up rant with... wait for it... TWO from Mama Liberty. alright, they're not both WRITTEN by her, but she sent one she liked to me, and wrote another for us to enjoy. First, the passed on piece—[Link] She links an article about the NRA, collaborationists extraordinaire, adding an ATF snitch to their board of directors. WTF??? At least Alan Gottlieb isn't THAT stupid with 2AF. Then, we go to her own work—[Link] This piece deals with the (oft-times ridiculous) search for perfection, and just who gets to decide what perfection is—FOR YOU!

"Or... who in heck gets to determine the "perfect" or the "good?" I mean, for anyone else...
Ever hear gun owners, for instance, spend inordinate amounts of time and effort arguing about what gun, ammunition, accessories or practices are "best" and, all too often, sneering at any who don't share their preferences? Sure you do... and even though the 9mm vs .45 wars are mostly funny these days, when taken to extreme this type of argument probably serves to discourage more than a few new shooters, people tempted to leap off the fence between "gun control" and freedom. When these new people visit our fora and blogs, do they get mostly courteous answers to their questions, or blistering ridicule for their questions and initial choices? You know that the latter is all too common.
Think back on the early days in your experience, with guns or much of anything else. What was the best influence, the worst? Did you find a mentor who would both encourage and challenge you? Or did you have to discover what was best for you on your own? Did someone's sneering, patronizing bad attitude almost cause you to turn away? And how did that influence your attitude toward new people later on? Some food for thought, maybe."

I love it that Washington State's lawmakers are having a hard time understanding the trouble they have create by sucking off.... er up to Michael "the Billionaire Dickhead" Bloomberg. [Link]

"Washington state's new gun control law, passed with money contributed by liberal billionaires Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg, is almost universally unpopular. At a recent rally, more than a thousand people defied the law by carrying their weapons in public, including many legislators. Police officers were everywhere, and they arrested no one. In private, representatives of law enforcement are among the law's biggest critics.Like all gun control laws, this one comes with a central problem. As Greg Campbell of the Tea Party News Network says:

Only the law-abiding follow laws. Criminals, as the name would suggest, do not; what madman is content with committing mass murder with a firearm but is stopped only by the hefty penalties of purchasing a firearm or carrying a firearm when ineligible?"

Isn't it great? Thousands of people commit felony peaceful protest, and the police correctly choose to do nothing. Because the law itself is a felonious violation of the Constitution!

Here, in the first of our "Well Armed Citizen" stories this week (and we have a nice number of them this week), we see, yet again, that a woman with a gun is going to be disarmed and have her gun used against her, as the anti-Constitutionalists always try to tell us... NOT!!! [Link]

In Lancaster County, PA, an alert and armed woman stopped a crime spree. One of the things that destroys the sense of security in a neighborhood is the proliferation of burglaries and thefts of personal property from vehicles. That is what the pair of suspects were involved in when an alert woman stopped Robert LaFleur from breaking into her car at 2:30 am and held him at gunpoint until the police arrived.
It seems unlikely that LaFleur would have obeyed the woman's commands if she had not been armed. The police report that he resisted arrest when they arrived, and that they used a taser on him. They then turned their attention on LaFleur's accomplice, who was in a vehicle. The vehicle turned out to be stolen"

Now, she DIDN'T have to shoot, so she didn't shoot. EXACTLY how most armed citizens defending themselves ends.

Und now, the "Well Armed American" Part Deux—[Link] Sorry (NOT!) Victim Disarmament scumbags, women CAN defend themselves quite nicely with the tools invented for exactly that purpose—handguns.

"Arizona—(Ammoland.com)—Sable Nehme shows how she turned from the closet and pointed the revolver.
In this case in Florida, a young woman stops a potential tragedy by quickly retrieving a gun that had been given to her by her father. A second later would have been too late. From wftv.com:

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --
Channel 9 talked with a University of Central Florida student who pulled a gun on two violent intruders who attacked her boyfriend and threatened her life.

The neighborhood, the Village of Alafaya Club, in Orlando, may be sketchy, as are many neighborhoods around universities. Perhaps local readers will be able to tell us if that surmise is true. The boyfriend, Nour Skargee, checked the peephole before opening the door. He only saw one of the intruders. As he cracked the door open, the intruder pushed his way in, grabbed him and pushed him inside. A second intruder in a hoody quickly followed, placed a gun in his face, and ordered him to the floor.
That is when the intruders threatened his girlfriend:

"They said they were going to kill (her), and that's when I really lost hope, you know?" Skargee said.

Fortunately, Sable Nehme's father had given her a revolver. She was in her bedroom, and the revolver was in the closet of her bedroom. She quickly locked the door and retrieved the revolver, slipping off the holster that it was in. By this time one of the invaders had broken through the door and was rapidly approaching. By the time she had turned, he was within a couple of feet of her. As she turned and pointed the gun at him, he slammed to a halt and ran from the room and out the apartment."

I guess THAT'S another asshole who learned a lesson. And, since he's still alive, he might be able to actually profit from the lesson, and change careers. Good thing she ignored the idiots who claim that ALL guns must be stored unloaded, and that college students can't safely possess guns.

Another "Well Armed American" Shows us that only the insane idiots bring a knife to a gun fight. [Link] It ALSO happens to show why WE know the insane idiots trying to ban our RTKBA deserve no sympathy, no tolerance, and have no credence.

"What would you do if you were minding your own business in the comfort of your own home and a machete-wielding maniac started kicking in your door?If you don't have a firearm you'd likely panic, pick up the phone, and hope that 9-1-1 can get a police officer to your house in the next 15 seconds.
If you are an armed homeowner, however, you've not only given yourself a fighting chance, but you have the distinct advantage of being on your own turf and capable of dispatching the threat with near instantaneous results.
This is exactly the scenario James Cvengros was presented with recently when his insane neighbor, Twain Thomas, started screaming and becoming violent in the hallway of the apartment building in which Cvengros lives. Cvengros turned on a camera and pointed it at his front door just in case. As you'll see in the video below, Thomas can be heard causing quite a ruckus outside, prompting Cvengros to take a look. He quickly closed and locked his door and waited."

THIS is the way Christians settle job disputes? maybe I'll come back to the church... [Link] Or not! From the "Well Armed American Pastors" column:

A Florida minister was forced to resort to violence to defend other church staff members and a number of children in his congregation. Living Water Fellowship Pastor Terry Howell, Sr. was in the process of terminating the employment of maintenance worker Benjamin Paragan, Jr., when the employee pulled a gun and began shooting. In response, Howell took out his own handgun and fired at Parangan. Western Journalism reports:

Witnesses support Howell's description of the incident, and authorities indicate they are treating his action as a self-defense shooting.
Initially listed in critical condition, reports indicate Parangan's condition was upgraded to stable as of Tuesday evening. Upon his release from the hospital, he will face multiple charges including aggravated assault with the intent to kill.
No one else involved in the shootout was injured, and Howell expressed his intention to work with authorities as the investigation continues.

I guess THIS pastor doesn't turn the other cheek....

It's amazing we needed a federal appeals court to have THIS fact confirmed—you CAN flip a cop the bird without risking arrest! [Link]

"Forgive the double negative. It's not that you didn't already have this right, but a federal court recently upheld one's legal ability to flip off the police.
Here's the backstory (via Never Get Busted):

The 14-page opinion issued by the the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit ruled that the "ancient gesture of insult is not the basis for a reasonable suspicion of a traffic violation or impending criminal activity."

Duh.
Yes, we're taking it back to elementary school here because it's to that level. Duh.

The ruling comes in response to a case where John Swartz and his wife Judy Mayton-Swartz were forced to bring suit against two police officers who arrested Swartz back in May of 2006. The arrest was made simply as a result of John Swartz flipping off the officer who was using a radar device at an intersection in St. Johnsville, New York.
Swartz was charged with "disorderly conduct," the common way that officers charge people when they have not committed any crime."

Well, since Ben Franklin first said it, I'd agree—you CAN'T trade essential liberties for temporary security. I vote we keep the liberties, and trust in our arms for the security. [Link]

"Atlanta, GA—A Georgia lawmaker has proposed a bill, aptly named Baby Bou's law, that would restrict the issuance of no-knock raids.The bill's namesake, Baby Bounekahm "Bou Bou" Phonesavanh, suffered third-degree burns to his chest and face after sheriff's deputies in Habersham County raided a house in the middle of the night in May of 2014. They were looking for a person who did not live there, over a $50 drug sale, and threw a flashbang grenade into the infant's crib.
According to the bill's sponsor, State Sen. Vincent Fort, there was also a stunning new revelation in the case of 19-month-old Bou-Bou, involving a lie.
"We know that there's evidence someone lied, one officer lied to the magistrate in offering information for the no knock warrant," said Fort.
Apparently Georgia has never had a specified law on the books designed to punish officers and agencies that lie to a judge to obtain a no-knock warrant.
The bill has bipartisan support from many of Georgia's lawmakers, who are also looking to ban no-knock raids between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am.
Predictably, this bill has the police unions up in arms.
Retired drug unit officer, turned union rep for the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Carrie Mills, is quite outspoken about the union's opposition to the bill.
"If we knock and announce, all evidence is going to be destroyed," Mills said.
Mills went on to threaten lawmakers by telling them they should be careful what they ask for. She then made a disgusting statement which goes against every principle of a free society, by claiming that if you want security, you can't have privacy.
"You have to draw the line between your right as a citizen to privacy and a community's right to live in a crime-free environment. You can't have them both," said Mills."

Tough shit, lady. Our essential liberties are more important than your idiotic victimless drug laws. DUH!!!

This one comes under both the "Well Armed Americans" AND the "Darwin Awards" headers. [Link] Parents, Teach your children well, if you wish them to remain alive and out of prison.

"Family and friends of two teenage boys shot and killed inside a home they had broken into are speaking out.
"They didn't deserve to get killed," said the sister of 14-year-old Michael Sambrano.
He and his 16-year-old best friend were shot and killed on Sunday morning by someone inside a home the teens were breaking into. Police won't say whether it was the elderly homeowner or her brother who shot and killed the teens who had just broken into their home.
"They were on their way out the door, and I just think it was wrong that they were shot," said Christina Sambrano.
But many who live on Arcade Boulevard say the neighbor did the right thing.
"Justice was served," said Robert Robinson.
Burglars hit his home twice before. The area is no stranger to crime that mostly consists of car and home break-ins.
The woman who lived at the home where the teens were shot asked her brother to stay with her after thieves targeted her home twice before, including one of the teen suspects shot dead in her home on Sunday.
"He was not an innocent bystander," said neighbor David Keck. "I'm sorry the little boys or teenagers were killed, but if it's my family, my family comes first."
While family and friends admit the teens committed a crime, they wonder if dying for their mistake was the only answer.
"I just don't understand why they were shot multiple times and killed," said Lisa Sambrano.
Police are saying the homeowner and brother did it in self-defense. We're told she's a widow who was afraid of living in the area, and had even tried to sell her home."

Bullshit they didn't deserve to die. They entered the home of another, and proceeded to steal that person's property. Once they do that, they are lucky if they do NOT die as a result. They are/were criminals who got what they deserve. Want my sympathy? For your brats, it's located in the dictionary, between "Shit" and "Syphillis". MY sympathy is saved for the homeowners, who, being decent human beings (unlike the thieves) will have to live out their lives with the guilt (and they WILL feel it, even though it was the right thing to do) of killing these two greedy little bastards.

And our final "Well Armed Citizen" of this blockbuster Rant is here, in a predominantly black Milwaukee neighborhood. [Link] As of the time I got this story, it is unknown if either the good guy OR the bad guy are black, but the odds are highly in favor of both being black.

"In Milwaukee, on Friday, the 9th of January, an armed robber was shot and killed as he was patting down men that he was robbing in the Level Up Barber Shop. One of them did not wait to be patted down. He drew his legally carried pistol and shot the robber. The robber died. No one else was hurt.
It is very difficult for an armed robber to keep track of a number of people all at once, while doing everything else he has to do to get the loot and escape. They almost always become distracted by something, giving a legally armed person an opportunity to stop the crime.
It turns out that the customer that shot the robber was not the only person in the shop with a concealed carry permit. One of the co-owners of the shop was there when it happened. He has a concealed carry permit as well.

"The crime rate is so high. It's like nobody wants to work for an honest living anymore," Ty said.

While we do not know if the robbery suspect who was killed was black, Ty, the co-owner is black, and the barber shop is in a dominantly black area."

Whatever the skin color of our hero might be, I applaud you, Sir or Madam, for the excellent job. I suspect you will not be paying for your haircuts for a while........

Before I close this, a new trend in ammunition naming was begun by L. Neil Smith a few years ago when S&W caved in to gun grabbers and supported a major Victim Disarmament Bill. He re-named .40S&W to .40 Liberty. The next caliber to re-name is ore in honor than repudiation. The 10mm, a cartridge designed to the specifications of Colonel Jeff Cooper, for a gun he designed, the Bren 10. The good Colonel would never have been so crass as to name the cartridge after himself, but now that he has passed, WE can. The .40 Cooper shall henceforth be the name of 10mm in this gun person's lexicon.
