 THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE Number 814, March 22, 2015 I don't know exactly what it is, but there is something in democracy that selects for the very worst in humanity: the craziest, the most stupid, and the most evil.

This time, the topic is gun laws, New Jersey, and some statistics. Sorry, trick question. Of course, all "gun laws" go too far. And, for the record, that has almost nothing to do with the "second amendment" or safety or reducing actual violent crime.

DETROIT (WXYZ)—A 46-year-old woman is under arrest after she critically wounded a 47-year-old man who reportedly charged at her from her own backyard.
IF this wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny.... Hell, it IS funny, in addition to being pathetic. [Link]. A group called States United to Prevent Gun Violence wants to make a point. To do so, they set up a fake gun store and invited in the public. When buyers wandered up to the counter, they were presented with their choice of firearms. The catch? Each of the firearms could be related back to a crime of some significance. Then, apparently, the customer would feel ashamed of his decision to buy a gun that had been used in such a horrible manner.
What would happen if we did this with some other commonly-sold products? Oh, you're buying dishwasher detergent? Did you know that pod was once eaten by a toddler, poisoning him before he ever had a chance to start kindergarten? How about that Buick? Did you know a woman once drove this exact model into a crowd of innocent people, killing four and injuring dozens of others? SUPGV is even dumber as I thought they were! Sometimes an old dog still has teeth, and isn't afraid to use them. [Link]. This "Well Armed American" has no problem losing his wallet, but once his beloved wife is in danger, things change.... Eighty-four-year-old Doug Jandebeur was getting into his pickup truck outside his business on Monday night when he was assaulted by a would-be robber.
"I felt him take my billfold out and he headed over to the door where my wife was. The suspect's face was captured on surveillance video; Tulsa police are asking people to help identify him. You don't even IMPLY you're going to bother his wife if you wish to remain safe. I bet that thug is STILL running! We welcome the addition of three more states to the "Constitutional Carry" movement. [Link]. Kansas, New Hampshire, and West Virginia have all implemented laws that will lead them closer to Constitutional carry—where the only permit needed to carry is the 2nd Amendment. Open or concealed. West Virginia went farther, and their law over-rides certain city ordinances—under the new law, cities may ONLY ban carry into certain government buildings. Several cities in WVa banned concealed carry and/or sale of firearms within city limits. The West Virginia law overrides separate local ordinances in various cities and towns within the state. It also removes the potentially dangerous waiting period.
It is coming, people. And it can't come soon enough. This is one of the "Well Armed Americans" I wish I didn't have to include. [Link]. To many people, being forced to kill in self defense is seen as a sure cause of impending mental angst. For some, that is true, for others, not so much. Personally, I consider the assailant to have committed suicide, and it's not the shooter's fault he's dead. And, while no one WANTS to kill a fellow man unless threatened (except for the truly sick few killers who enjoy it), I won't hesitate. But to have been physically abused by your father for years, with multiple restraining orders against him (like THAT ever works), and his even having served time for that abuse, and to finally be forced to kill him for said abuse, the last thing ANY young person needs is to be charged with first degree murder. A Virginia prosecutor has charged the son of a serially abusive man with first degree murder for shooting and killing his 6'4" 250+ lbs father. A large part of her reasoning for filing murder charges is that she claims that the teen-aged victim fired too many shots in self-defense.
All the prosecutors are saying is that they felt James Faison had the ability to retreat and should have, and that they felt the number of shots fired was excessive. He shot too many times, and he could have run away. and THAT makes it Murder One according to this bitch of a prosecutor. If ever a young man needed a "Stand Your Ground", here is the time. Monday morning quarterbacks, thinking THEY can determine, after the fact, how many shots was "enough" to save his life from the man who had been brutalizing him for years. One would hope that SOMEONE with a brain would come to their senses in Virginia and drop these asinine charges. From Fox News (Stop frothing at the mouth, they're no more biased than the others, just biased AGAINST the others!), we find that a fact checker has blown a lot of Obama's lies about guns, gun ownership, and what the average American thinks about guns and gun ownership. The first fact-check involved a comment Obama made—at a town hall at South Carolina's Benedict College—where he said, "What we have to recognize is, is that our homicide rates are so much higher than other industrial countries. I mean by like a mile."
