Congratulations, you just lynched a piece of cloth.

Of course nine of the ten worst states to be Black are still in the North [link]

Non Hispanic Black life expectancy is still 76, as compared to 79 for whites and 81 for Hispanics of all races.

In spite of the attention paid to the shit and the evil he did, you are much more likely to be murdered by a Black man if you are Black (for what it's worth, White men are more likely to murder their women then black men are.). It must be admitted that while overall police are currently like to pop a cap on anyone under questionable circumstances, it does seem there is a tendency to single out Black men for "Keep'em in their place" type violence.

Banning the Confederate battle flag does nothing to solve the above.

I'm a Texan of Mexican decent. My families moved to the US during the 1910-19 Revolution in Mexico. By me The Stars and Bars / Confederate Battle Flag are just one of the four foreign flags that flew over Texas. (our current Flags are the US Stars and Stripes and the Lone Star flag that also flew over The Republic.). At the time of the American Civil War my ancestors were fighting to explain to the French that Mexico was a sovereign nation. This became necessary because, among other reasons, the US was too busy with the Civil war to enforce the Monroe Doctrine.

The Confederate flag means a lot of things to a lot of people. However, banning it will do nothing to make life better for those who feel the most oppressed by it.
