The Lone and Level Sands
by L. Neil Smith
What follows is a short story I was commissioned to write for a collection called Future Washington, edited by Ernest Lilly and published in October 2005, a few weeks before I'd finished Ceres. in some ways it is a sequel to Ceres, occurring 12 years after the novel concludes. In others, it is a prequel to a novel I haven't written much about yet. It is to be called Rosalie's World, in which we follow Llyra and Morgan and their growing family to the world her great grandfather Emerson Ngu discovered, and named after her great grandmother.

More from the Recovering Libertarian
by Sean Gangol
Our old friend Edwin Lyngar is at it again. A while back, I wrote a response to an article on Salon.com written by a man who claimed to be a former libertarian. He said that he became disillusioned with libertarians, when he realized how selfish, crazy and uneducated they were. This time he wrote about what he experienced while vacationing in Honduras and tries to use this as a shining example of the failures of libertarianism. Yeah, whenever I think of libertarianism, I think of Honduras. A country ruled by a military dictatorship and has a very low ranking on the Heritage Foundation's list of economically free countries.

I mentioned last issue that Our Mr. Smith was busy with some important stuff that needed doing. Well the stuff has been done (open heart surgery) and he is recovering nicely and will be back to work Real Soon Now.

"The HUGE Issue that Fox News Ignored During the GOP Debate"
by Tim Brown
I want to hear from presidential candidates that there is no authority given to government to restrict any arms to its citizens in any fashion. That is the law. On top of that, as I stated on Friday on the Sons of Liberty radio show, I want them to be asked to enumerate the first Ten Amendments to the Constitution and their enumerated powers should they be elected to the White House. After all, that is what they job consists of, knowing their limitations and understanding the people's freedom that is to be preserved. If they can't answer those few things, they have no business anywhere near the White House.

Might as well also ask for a pony on your birthday, that's about as likely to happen. More likely!
