Re: Atlantea the Beautiful No. 320

I thought it was Jackson, not Teddy Roosevelt, whose picture graced the $20.00 bill.

Re: "Drawing the Line" by L.Neil Smith

Hi, Neil! I liked this article, and it reminded me of a really strong and prickly objection I've had to the presidential candidacies of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.

As I understand it, neither of them had even one parent who was an American citizen when they were born. As I understand the scholarship delving into the notion of "natural born citizen," such a person is the progeny of two American citizens (or maybe an American citizen father, given the patriarchy of the times). But neither of these presidential wannabes can claim meeting either of those standards.

In my view, Cruz and Rubio could greatly advance the cause of the rule of law AND simultaneously deal a devastating blow to the Obama deception. Either or both could say, "I'd love to be President, but I'm no more qualified to hold that office than Barack Obama is."

For no matter which interpretation of the "natural born citizen" question you take (according to what I construe to be respectable scholarship), Obama's father, being a Kenyan (and therefore a British citizen), could never contribute to Obama's eligibility for the presidency. Cruz and Rubio are in the same boat.

Personally, I think that if Cruz, Rubio, or both of them were to take that stance, they could claim almost any appointive office (or retain their elective offices) for life. The people hunger for honest representation, and they could provide the freshest exemplars we've seen since ... who knows -- maybe George Washington?

Best,

Re: "Drawing the Line" by L.Neil Smith

As a believer I must apologize for the faux Christians who are of the opinion that

a. God has agreed to let them be His spokepersons.

b. Faith in God justifies being deliberately ignorant morons who expect God to support their bigotry regardless of what He has clearly stated to the contrary.

c. Their hypocritical insistence in the rest of us doing what they say, not what they do.

Right are freely given gifts, from God or evolution don't signify with me. Sin is violation of the law of love and the ZAP.

Lying in God's name to enslave others is sin.

Armbands

I recently heard Glenn Beck call for his listeners to wear armbands in support of dissidents, journalists, and dissident journalists in Iran. When will he call for the wearing of armbands in support of Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden?

[ Well, since my impression of Mr. Beck is that he is a jackass (I could be wrong of course), the anwser would be "never"—Editor]
